Candidate Success Coordinator: Seattle

LaunchCode

LaunchCode is a non-profit solving the tech talent gap and paving new pathways to economic opportunity through apprenticeships and job placement in technology. We're seeking a hyper-motivated coordinator to lead NASA-safety-check-level-crucial elements of our candidate relations program and help us expand to tech greatness in Seattle.

Are you a person who's always listening for connections? Got an earnest drive to open doors to opportunity for others and make an impact on their lives? Do people you meet on the bus or waiting in line often find themselves telling you their life story ' and before you know it, you've discovered that your friend's aunt is exactly the person they need to meet to solve a problem? If so, then you've come to the right place.

The Candidate Success Coordinator serves on the frontline in the battle to discover and employ the next great programmers, and is the lynchpin to the service LaunchCode offers. You will be LaunchCode's first point of contact for the general public and for the people we serve. It will be up to you to help them understand the benefits of our education, coaching, and job placement services. You'll use your tech knowledge and awesome closet-journalist interview skills to assess candidates' technical knowledge and help them improve from tech skills to tech superpowers by creating and supporting a custom coaching plan that meets their needs

This is a full-time, 3-month position -- with potential to extend to permanent employment -- based at our LaunchCode hub in Seattle.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate coding applications to LaunchCode's "LiftOff: All In<tech>" job search coaching program
  • Provide mentorship for aspiring software engineers on how to succeed in technical interviews and whiteboarding challenges
  • Rock those incredible interview skills mentioned earlier to assess candidates' technical skills and identify their strengths and any areas for improvement
  • Give useful constructive feedback to candidates, design a custom coaching plan, and mentor their professional development
  • Work with the Company Relations Team to identify good matches between jobs and candidates
  • Work with the Education Team to promote our coding courses, help candidates find other high-quality resources, and provide feedback about the effectiveness of our educational programs
  • Schedule, design, and manage job readiness workshops
  • Contribute curricular perspective for building workshops and educational content
  • Engage company partners and volunteers
  • Must be available for frequent evening engagement
  • Coordinate events and workshops from start to finish, such as invitations,  follow up surveys, registrations, sign-up forms, and follow up with handouts to participants
  • Ability to design participant and partner/student/candidates facing materials

You're perfect for this role if you

  • You are proficient in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, C/C#, .NET
  • Possess shockingly good interpersonal communication skills and enjoy presenting to large groups
  • Are highly organized and detail oriented
  • Think working quietly without talking to other humans all day long sounds like utter torture
  • Have a passion for opening doors to help people from all backgrounds succeed
  • Are an effective team member in high intensity environments and able to thrive under pressure
