LaunchCode

LaunchCode is a non-profit solving the tech talent gap and paving new pathways to economic opportunity through education, apprenticeships and job placement in technology.  We're seeking a hyper-motivated program manager to lead NASA-safety-check-level-crucial elements of our tech training programs and help us expand tech greatness across the land.

Are you a person with a strong history of software engineering? Got an earnest drive to open doors to opportunity for others and make an impact on their lives? Does the idea of a fast-paced position that requires you to rapidly learn, create curriculum, and teach various technologies sing to your soul?

If so, then you've come to the right place.

LaunchCode's Training department is a new department that seeks to provide value to companies by tailoring tech training to an organization's specific needs.  With this program we're closing the tech talent gap by understanding & reacting quickly to our company partners' needs, plus providing employees and apprentices with in-demand, niche technology skills.  A pretty sweet deal.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at the LaunchCode Mentor Center in St. Louis on Delmar Blvd.

Responsibilities

  • Create curriculum on topics such as modern software engineering best practices, full stack development, CyberSecurity, GIS, and DevOps.
  • Provide instruction and content delivery to experienced and less-experienced developers in a classroom setting.
  • Provide mentorship to candidates building full stack web applications.
  • Perform interviews to evaluate a candidate's drive and 'soft skills'.

You're perfect for this role if you

  • Have 2+ years participating on an Agile team and a strong understanding of the agile process.
  • Also have 2+ years professional experience using software engineering best practices including TDD, pair programming, design patterns, identifying code smells, continuous integration / continuous deployment.
  • Love coaching and mentoring junior developers.
  • Are not afraid to deliver technical talks at user groups, conferences, or classes.
  • Rocked full stack development with strong proficiency in a javascript framework, Java-based server applications, databases, and Linux server configuration, professionally.
  • Demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning & LaunchCode's mission
  • Want to learn new technologies, and can pick them up quickly.
