LaunchCode CodeCamp:

Web Development Teaching Assistant

Philadelphia, PA

LaunchCode is a non-profit solving the tech talent gap and paving new pathways to economic opportunity through education, apprenticeships, and job placement in technology. Our programs are innovative, effective, and scalable, and we have ambitious growth plans. We're seeking a hyper-motivated Teaching Assistant to assist with the delivery of our new CodeCamp in Philadelphia.

LaunchCode's Immersive CodeCamp

LaunchCode's Immersive CodeCamp is an intensive, full-time educational experience for those wanting to start a career in programming. In this program, students acquire modern and practical web development skills in a small class led by effective teaching staff.

Are you passionate about sharing your coding skills with others? Have programming chops and communication skills? Does the thought of preparing people for a better career sing to your soul? Then you, my friend, should come work here.

LaunchCode is working with a Fortune 100 Technology & Entertainment company to provide CodeCamp to their current employees who are seeking to transition. The course is 13 weeks long, with a class size of 12 students. The curriculum is managed by LaunchCode and delivered by course staff, which consists of one Lead Instructor and one Teaching Assistant. The curriculum consists of an introduction to professional web development in JavaScript and additional job-ready skills taught in Java.

The Teaching Assistant:

  • Supports the Lead Instructor in delivering course content
  • Helps the Lead Instructor in administering the course, including grading and attendance
  • Works one-on-one with every student in the class to ensure optimal support and learning

The job is fast-paced and multi-faceted. It's also super fun--a pretty sweet deal if you ask us.

You're perfect for this role if you...

  • Can program in a variety of languages, including object-oriented; dynamically- and statically-typed; compiled and interpreted
  • Have experience presenting programming concepts in both verbal and written settings
  • Stay up-to-date on current programming trends and practices
  • Possess a strong desire to work with driven individuals and help them succeed
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Can demonstrate an outcome-oriented work ethic

Position Type

This is a full time, contract position based in Philadelphia. The period of engagement starts in mid-March 2020 and lasts for 14 weeks (1 week of training / preparation and 13 weeks of course delivery).

Compensation ranges between $12,600 and $14,000 for the total engagement, commensurate with experience.

To Apply

Apply online by filling out the form above. No phone calls, please; we're busy kicking butt and taking names (and tech jobs). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We highly recommend applying as early as possible for the best chance of moving forward. The employment eligibility of all new hires will be verified using E-Verify.
