LaunchCode is a non-profit solving the tech talent gap and paving new pathways to economic opportunity through apprenticeships and job placement in technology. We're seeking hyper-motivated teaching assistants to teach our upcoming CodeCamp, in which we are training 20-40 transitioning military veterans in computer programming in order to start new careers at Microsoft.

 

LaunchCode's Immersive CodeCamp:

LaunchCode's Immersive CodeCamp is an intensive, 17-week full-time educational experience for those wanting to start a programming career. The course curriculum is managed by LaunchCode and delivered by the Lead Instructor. The curriculum consists of coding and web fundamentals in JavaScript, C#, and Azure. TAs are responsible for assisting with instruction, working closely with students, and helping with course administration. 

This is a full-time, contract position in Hanover, MD. The contract will begin April 13, 2020 and run for 17-19 weeks. The first few weeks of the course will be fully remote, then likely transition to in-person as current health risks change.

A CodeCamp Teaching Assistant:

  • Supports the Lead Instructor in delivering course content
  • Supports the Lead Instructor in administering the course, including grading and attendance
  • Works one-on-one with every student in the class to ensure optimal support and learning

Qualifications

A CodeCamp Teaching Assistant has experience:

  • Programming in a variety of languages, including object-oriented; dynamically- and statically-typed; compiled and interpreted
  • Presenting programming concepts in both verbal and written settings
  • Building and deploying software applications

A CodeCamp Teaching Assistant must possess:

  • A strong desire to work with driven individuals and help them succeed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An outcome-oriented work ethic

Position Type

This is a full-time, contract position from April 2020 through August 2020. The Teaching Assistant is expected to work 40 hours per week.
