We're seeking hyper-motivated Teaching Assistants to assist with the delivery of our CoderGirl class online with the possibility of transitioning to in-person instruction in St. Louis, MO (depending on how the current public health situation related to COVID-19 evolves).

Are you passionate about sharing your coding skills with others? Do you have programming chops and communication skills? Does the thought of preparing people for employment sing to your soul?  Then you, my friend, should contract with us.

LaunchCode's LC101

LC101 is a unique course that helps students develop the coding skills that will prepare them for apprenticeships in computer programming and information technology. LC101 combines a world-class online curriculum with dynamic in-person instruction and specialized skill tracks tailored to align with employer demand.

Technical concepts taught in LC101 coursework may include JavaScript, Angular, Java/Spring, and C#/.Net. TAs are required to become familiar with the class material and assignments before the class begins.  This role reports to the program's Candidate Engagement Manager.

  • Knowledge of technical concepts
  • Passion for programming
  • Strong communication skills - leading small groups, and one on one instruction.
  • Perception/patience (knowing when a student needs help)
  • Growth mindset

The job is fast-paced and multi-faceted. It's also super fun.  A pretty sweet deal, if you ask us.

You're perfect for this role if you:

  • A great, proactive leader
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experienced in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring
  • Armed with a solid understanding of technical concepts taught in LaunchCode courses (CoderGirl graduate, CodeCamp graduate, or LC101 graduate, CS student or graduate, professional programmer, programming enthusiast engaged in the local tech scene).

Class will meet Mondays & Thursdays from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Initially the class will meet online. Depending on how the public health situation related to COVID-19 evolves, we may transition to an in-person class in St. Louis, MO.

Teaching Assistants will be paid $12.50/hr  and will work 8 - 10 hours a week. As contractors, TAs are not eligible for employee benefits.
